Donating Usable stuff – Recycling

Dear Fellow Ambassadors, I believe that, in order to serve the environment recycling is one of the better options. It is of many types Paper, Plastic, Metal, Wood, fabric & textiles. Recycling is close to my heart and I am very active in various types of recycling. I have conducted many drives, managed eco-initiatives, participated, organised & won many related competitions in past years of my student life.

Today, I will describe about my trust with recycling of Clothes & allied household items in past years. I have lived my student live in the UAE & this country is well known for its environmental drives. One of such related drive is placing recycling bins for Clothes, Toys, Shoes etc. The idea is to donate Usable items not the discarded ones. Each household has stock rather piles of Clothes, Shoes, Handbags, Linen items that are in good usable condition but kept in cup boards only as new items keep coming & old ones are just piled.

I have convinced my parents rather the homemaker my Mom, to dispense with this close to heart but non-much used stuff. On weekends we scanned the cup-boards and sorted such items. Than my Mom washed it and me & my brother ironed them, nicely folded the same & collated in a bag.

When we manged to have 4-5 such bags in 4-5 weeks me & my brother Raunak will go to such recycling bins and donate all such collected stuff. Trust me, my friends, you will feel so good and blessed by such actions.
The idea is when this stuff is eventually handed over to the needy, there should be a smile of satisfaction at their face. Its¡¯ usage will bring satisfaction in our hearts.

    Hello Rohan

This is such a great program. When I walk on some streets, I often find some useful stuffs thrown away. Whenever I see them I thought that it would be much better if those stuffs are handed over to the needy. Your programs seems to be exactly the one that I was looking for. I really respect you that you actually took the action to initiate the program. Your program mush have helped many people who don't have the enough money buy the products they need.

Thank you for the great program, and keep up with the great action!

    Hey Rohan!
    It's Lisa your mentor.

I think donation is definitely one way that we can solve all these surpluses of clothes around us! We have been used to buying more than we need and we often grow out of them as well. Instead of throwing them away, cleaning them and donating to people who are in need, we could give a second life to the used clothes and save the environment!

Great work and there's actually a similar project in Korea as well.
I wonder if there are other countries that have similar projects going on!

Great job and keep up the work dear:)
