Korea is currently suffering from deadly smog, which combined with the dark weather, makes the whole country feel gloomy. However, the main cause of this smog is not Korea itself. Instead, most of the smog is created in China, and then transported to Korea due to westerly.

           There have been numerous cases in which dust particles and sand combined fly from China to Korea during winter and spring. Yet the case of smog being transported from China to Korea is very rare, and this is almost the first time that this happened.

           I believe this clearly shows the seriousness of the smog problem in China. Due to rapid industrialization and ever-growing population rate, the country is omitting enormous amounts of harmful gases and dust particles into the air. This is causing air pollutions such as the yellow dust and smog, which is not only harming its own citizens but people living in nearby countries.

           It is virtually impossible to walk around in some parts of China because the smog is so thick. I recently heard that a company in China began to sell air bottles in China. Even more, it is estimated that millions of people die from respiratory diseases caused by air pollution. Yet the most serious thing is that this is not only affecting China but foreign neighbors.

           However, that does not mean that we should just blame China for the pollution is has caused over the past decade. The responsibility also lies in ourselves who consume the cheap products ?made in China? using cheap labor and harmful, even toxic materials. Air pollution, smog and yellow dust altogether are not only problems of China but the whole world.
