Thematic Report;

Human activities over the years have contributed massively to climate change all around the world. From the fumes from our cars to the heavy industrial emission of CO2 and other poisonous gases into the atmosphere, not forgetting the destruction of waterbodies and vegetation due to urbanization and some illegal exploitation of the environment. I am not talking about any of these though. My main focus is on breathing.

Averagely, a normal human being breathes 15 – 25 times per minute. At rest, a normal human being breathes 8 – 15 times per minute. What this means is that, the more times we breathe, the more oxygen we take into our system and vice versa, the more Carbon Dioxide we exhale into the environment.

Even though there is no proven proof that breathing actually affects climate change, the growing number of human beings in the world could actually in some way contribute to climate change. Breathing contributes about 7% of Global emission of the greenhouse gas CO2. 7% is actually minute, considering that there is a whole 93% which is way bigger than 7%. But the irony is that, without this 7% it would not have been 100%.

All I mean to say is that, whether small or big, breathing contributes to climate change. And since we cannot actually stop or control this, we could focus on controlling the artificial means of emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which constitutes almost 90% of the global emission of the gas.

It is amazing how a natural activity such as breathing which is very essential for survival of living things in its own way contributes to climate change. That notwithstanding, breathe and breathe well, breathe safely and wear a nose mask whenever you want to go somewhere as lockdowns are being gradually lifted.

Hi Justice Obiri, this is a mentor Sang Su Lee.

It is really interesting to see the amount in percent that our breathing contribute to the climate change. This article has quite creative perspective. Good job for your hard work in finding the information! However, please mention works that you've referred to for statistical data.

    Thank you~

Hello Justice Obiri, this is mentor Taehyun!

Thank you for your article on how breathing can affect global warming! In fact, it's a really interesting idea, but we do it because it's more reasonable and easier to reduce what's happening in other factors than actually reducing the amount of carbon dioxide generated, but surely breathing is also unintentional carbon dioxide!

    Thank you for the report!

    Green cheers!

    Hello Justice!

I hope you are doing great with your works!

Although,we all know that we exhale carbondioxide during breathing in environment but I had never imagine that it could contribute 7%CO2 to total C02 causing climate change.

    Thanks for sharing amazing report!

    I really like yours report.

It is amazing to know that even breathing leads to the climate change in a away.

    Keep writing and shining.

Hope to know more from you.

    Warm regards,
