Established in 1943, IKEA , a swedish origin company now is the world¡¯s largest home furniture retailer with more than  433  stores worldwide in over 50 countries.

The concept of well-designed with an affordable price that consumers can reach makes the company's total sales 2019 grew by 6.5% to 41.3 billion euros. With a vision ¡°To create a better everyday life for the many people¡±, the company has constantly been looking for better ways not only in  products but also in the environment.

IKEA has been focusing on sustainability and renewable energy. According to the company's sustainability report 2019, it can be noticed that the total CO2 emission is 24.9 million tons , 4.3% less than 2018. The company has been working with the aim to consume 100% renewable electricity in its retail operations by 2025 and to phase out fossil fuel based heating and cooling and use 100% renewable energy throughout the entire IKEA value chain by 2030.

Over the past decade, the company has spent 2.5 billion euros on wind farms, rooftop solar panels on its stores and warehouses.  This investment will enable the company to generate more renewable energy than it consumes across its operations. 1 million rooftop solar modules put on the rooftop of 370 stores and warehouses, and 535 wind turbines in 14 countries across Europe and North America , stakes in 2 the US solar parks in Utah & Texas were built.

In the mean time, the company committed to not only the sustainability of its own operations but also to making renewable energy an attractive and affordable option for homeowners by selling solar panels to customer in many markets such as Sweden, Australia , UK . With over 170 million customers worldwide or around 83 million households, the company believes that even a small percentage of those customers make small changes in the way they live , the way they concern about the environment. It can make a difference to our planet.

Hi Nitipak Ratapipat, this is a mentor, Sang Su Lee.

IKEA is really famous corporate. In Korea, there are many IKEA markets.

One of the important duties that the corporate should take care of is its duty of preserving the environment. I am really happy to see that IKEA is taking its responsibility really well. I hope this kind of company would be chosen by many consumers so that companies would not regret of taking care of the environment even though it takes huge cost to do so.

    Green Cheers~!

Hello Nitipak Ratapipat, this is mentor Taehyun!

It's amazing that IKEA, the world's leading DIY trend, is contributing to the global environment as well! Aiming to use 100% renewable energy by 2030 is a challenge not only for businesses but also for one country, and it's amazing to see such a bold plan. With more of these companies in the future, consumers will be more likely to consume environmentally friendly!

    Thank you for the report!

    Green cheers!
