Who do you think is the conqueror of the Earth: Human or insects in terms of number? |

Do you think human are the true conquerors of the planet?
Do you know insect population in this world is 1 Quintillion. It is one followed by nineteen '0', while human are 7 billion. What makes the survival and existence of these insects? About 80% insects undergoes metamorphosis, meaning thereby the source of food for larva, pupa and adult is different and they don't have to struggle for food. example, caterpillar feeds on leaves while butterfly on nectar of flowers. Similarly, insects should never struggle for food as long as there is human, animals and plants in the universe. Since, mosquitoes sucks blood; some insects feed on faeces and whatever they find in the surroundings. Regarding shelter, these tiny creatures can find any places. Some live in roots of plants, some even in small holes of home, some in leaves and so on. The reproductive ability is also very different; a insect can give as much as 1000 offsprings in it's lifetime, and they get adult in very short period of time unlike human and other mammals. When the offspring is born, there is change in their gene for adaptation in changing environment. Also, the exoskeleton in insects help to protect them from harsh climatic situation. This make them survive even in harsh conditions. So, who do you think is human a conqueror of the earth or these insects that outnumbered human population? (Just in the sense of population) But in the end, the Earth is lively due to harmony of every creatures in the universe, neither only due to human not only due to insects.

I really love your concluding sentence. No matter how many numbers of certain species exist, it is important to keep in mind that we coexist on the earth, helping each other. I heard that insects outnumber humans, but I did not know that the number is this huge!!!

Thank you for reading the good article! What an enormous number of insects! I fully understand the intention of the article, but I would like to make a suggestion. So, do you think insects are the conquerors of the Earth? Opinions may be divided, but I don't think there's a conqueror on Earth. I think every living thing is something that stays on Earth for a while. Everyone may have different opinions, but I think you will agree that other creatures can have the same Earth!
