On October 23, 2011, 300 bikers will ride from Quezon City to Marikina City in the Philippines to campaign for the reforestation of the Marikina Watershed. According to Nina Calleja of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, they hope to "raise awareness of the importance of the watershed in safeguarding communities".  During strong typhoons, Marikina is hit by flooding that is being blamed on deforestation of the watershed.  This is also part of the advocacy for disaster-ready cities and communities.
