Congressman Pangandaman of Lanao del Sur is asking government to do something to save Lake Lanao in Mindanao from total degradation.  Lake Lanao is located in Lanao del Sur and is the largest freshwater lake in the Philippines. It is a major source of hydroelectric power and is important for the economy of the communities around the lakeshore and also of island of Mindanao and the whole country.  According to the Congressman the main problem of Lake Lanao's degradation is the destruction of the watershed due to the effects of climate change, which causes the water flow into the lake to be much less.  He also said there are many laws to protect the lake and for it to provide water in the future, but the government is not accomplishing what they have to do under the laws. Maybe the government agencies can work together for the protection of Lake Lanao.
