Environmental NGO

NGO or Non-Government Organization has their own set of goals that they wish to accomplish. They help be part of the solution in the current world problems. There are people dedicated in building and working in NGOs to help solve environmental issues. So I think it is just right to talk about environmental jobs by mentioning NGOs.

One of the environmental NGOs I look up to is Divers Clean Action (DCA). It is an NGO in Indonesia that is focused on the trashes in the sea. They have many programs, such as data sampling on the trash they found while cleaning up beaches, community empowerment whilst recycling plastic, and so on. They had even initiated the no straw movement in Indonesia. I am really happy when I see DCA¡¯s instagram, because their newest project has empowered people to volunteer in helping clean up the trash found on beaches.

While talking about DCA, there are many other communities in Indonesia that is focused in helping reduce the amount of plastic in the world. Rebricks for example, shreds plastic waste to be used as a material for making paving blocks. There are also communities that accept plastic sachet to make them into eco bricks. However, the trash donated must be ensured that they are clean so that they can be immediately processed. Shredding and stuffing a plastic inside a bottle is already a hard job, which is why donators need to wash the trash they want to donate. This is so that the people making the eco brick do not have more jobs to do when there is already a lot of a thing to be done.

    Hello Ida!
    It's your SJ mentor.

    Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for introducing me to people who work in NGOs among jobs related to the environment.
Collecting various garbage is very important because it is flocking to the coast.
It's amazing that there are NGOs that play important role.
I also want to participate in the volunteer work of picking up coastal waste.
And It would be nice if you could tell me in more detail how old bricks are used as making new bricks along with plastic waste.
If it is applicable to other countries, I think it can be a good way to recycle plastic.

    Green cheers!

    Best regards,
    SJ mentor.

    Hello Ida,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for sharing such an informative report regarding environmental NGO.
I am glad that such helpful organization like DCA is trying hard for clean Earth in Indonesia.
I wonder if you have tried to work together with them as a volunteer to collect the trashes and so on!
Also, the rebrciks and the eco bricks sound great!
Such upcycling processes are smart ways to reduce waste and reuse them at the same time.
In South Korea, there are people who collect used disposable masks to make a chair with them!

    Keep sharing

    Regards,
    WooJoo
