Environmental regulations attempt to protect public health and the environment from pollution by industry and development. The government should formulate the corresponding policies regarding the external diseconomy characteristic of environmental pollution to regulate the economic activities of manufacturers and to coordinate economic development and environmental protection to achieve sustainable development. After Ecoweek 2017 meeting. The government of Uzbekistan has carried out judicial reforms to produce new and improve the current regulatory tools for environmental protection consistent with international standards. The country has adopted and implemented strategic documents such as the national program to protect the environment, conserve biodiversity and phase out ozone-depleting substances along with a series of climate initiatives. Uzbekistan¡¯s law on environmental control has introduced an important stage in advancing the country¡¯s environmental regulations by providing strong regulatory frameworks enabling a productive involvement of specialized civil society institutions in addressing environmental challenges in the country. Additionally, given the important role of NGOs in solving environmental issues, social dialogue has been established to carry out State-ordered and grant projects that seek to improve the environment in the regions. The legislative and regulatory instruments directly affecting land and water issues, and therefore agriculture, establish the requirements concerning the location and use of land, the rational use of resources, and the protection of land and water sources against pollution by fertilizers and pesticides. The Law "About Water and Water Consumption" was adopted at the national level for effective use of limited water resources; rational water use for the needs of the population and the economy; water protection from pollution, obstruction, and exhaustion; prevention and liquidation of the adverse impact of water; improving water unit conditions, as well as protection of the rights of organizations, farm, and deckhand economies and individuals. Since September 1993 the order of limited water use has been approved and is actively implemented presently. Moreover, the use of pesticides in agriculture is given much consideration in Uzbekistan. Their use is regulated by sanitary standards and rules, such as "About the Order for Chemical Substances Transportation, Keeping and Usage in Agriculture". Under the Cabinet of the Ministers, the State Commission on the Means of Plant Protection was -established. The main tasks of the Commission are: -formation and realization of a unified strategic policy; -registration and preparation of those allowed to use; -assisting the organization of domestic pesticide production. Furthermore, last year was adopted the Concept of Environmental Protection until 2030 and the Concept for the Development of Environmental Education; approved the Strategy for solid waste management for the period 2019 - 2028 and the Strategy for the transition of the Republic of Uzbekistan to a "green" economy for the period 2019 - 2030 ". Hello Malika,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for introducing us the environmental regulations in Uzbekistan.
Supporting the organization of domestic, eco-friendly pesticide production seems very helpful in preventing soil and water pollution.
South Korea has also improved environmental regulations to accomplish sustainable growth and protect the public health from harmful wastes.
One of the new policies includes paying deposit for the use of plastic cups in caffes, which will be enacted starting next year, in order to reduce the plastic use and increse the recycling rate.
Hopefully Uzbekistan continues to assist environmental organizations, and people become more aware of the problems for better cooperation.
Keep sharing,
Regards,
WooJoo
