Upcycling is the process transforming the useless, unwanted material and using the product again with the greater value. It can be described as the process of recycling with the increased value of the materials i.e. upgrading of the product. It reduces the waste and improves the efficiency of resource use. Recycling process often breaks down materials to their basic units which are then processed into a new material of often less quality whereas in upcycling a new product is of either the same or higher quality. It reduces our carbon footprint as well as the aesthetic and creative value of the product is enhanced. The word ¡°upcycling¡± originated from a news manuscript of Thornton Kay interviewed Reiner Pilz in 1994. In 2002, William McDonough and Michael Braungart clarified the concept of ¡°upcycling¡± in a book named Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things. The importance of upcycling are:
As we all know, how important is mother earth to us, upcycling helps to reduce the waste and decreases pollution. With the increased value of the product, it can be turned into business and industry as well. Many small to large industries have started which upcycle the product. With the world being hit by the pandemic, it is necessary to use our time in productive time. Hence, we can use this time to show our creativity and upcycle the waste product at our home or the surrounding.

Hi Hi Kushal,
This is your mentor Yuseon:D
You have mentioned the importance of Upcycling. Emphasizing that it is a way to reduce waste and give new values to products and that itself could become an industry. I strongly agree with your idea. Despite this fact, many obstacles are in between the ordinary people and upcycling products due to it's low recognition and relatively high price.
Hope the upcycling industry could be recognized more actively so that we could all get to participate in preserving the environment just by 'buying smart'.
Keep up the good work:)

Hi Kushal,
This is your mentor Debbie :)
I think you were on point when you mentioned that ¡°upcycling helps to reduce waste and decrease pollution¡±. A lot of times we do not want to use ¡°recycled¡± products, but upcycled ones are different. With the greater value, we want to consume it even though it is, in a sense, still a recycled product!
Thanks for adding a great insight for our TUNZA community! Keep up the good work :)
Best,

Debbie
