Thematic Report, June. Upcycling. Interesting facts about green/electric vehicles

by Vazira Ikhtiyorova | 08-06-2021 07:35 recommendations 0

Dear all,

Hope you are doing well. Every time I get emails from our distinguished mentors, I am happy to know and learn something new because topics are so creative, hence, need special and decent research. Today, I would like few interesting facts about the green vehicles which may blow your mind:)

Firstly, I would like to highlight that electric and green vehicles are not same because a green vehicle, clean vehicle, eco-friendly vehicle or environmentally friendly vehicle is a road motor vehicle that produces less harmful impacts to the environment than comparable conventional internal combustion engine vehicles running on gasoline or diesel, or one that uses certain alternative fuels. Also, don't think that it is an innovation of this decade! These cars' concepts have already been done by UK inventor, Thomas Parker.

Would you believe that Electric cars are no longer silent? From July 2019, a new EU rule meant that all new electric and hybrid cars are legally required to emit an artificial noise so that they can be more easily heard by cyclists and pedestrians. The noise kicks in at speeds of 13mph and below. Thankfully the noise is on the exterior of the car so it¡¯s still nice and quiet inside for drivers. Moreover, electric cars in the UK could be set to have their own green number plates if government plans go ahead. As part of a drive to promote low emission vehicles, the UK Government is currently considering introducing special number plates to new electric cars. Special plates for green cars are already in use in countries such as Norway, Canada, and China.

We talk too much about Tesla but would you believe if I say Tesla isn't included in this sort of cars! The numbers say yes which means Tesla cars are partially green and electric cars. The Tesla is convincingly the green choice, but there's more to the story. Even small, less powerful electric vehicles haven't always been cleaner than the most efficient gas-powered autos. ... technology has advanced considerably since then, and electricity generation in America has shifted, as well. I sincerely hope that these facts were somehow interesting for you to know more about, thank you!

    Hi Vazira

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

Wow these interesting facts were all unknown for me.
I didn't know that electric cars now legally require to emit an artificial noise so that they can be more easily heard by cyclists and pedestrians. Emmitting artificial noise seems strange at first, but come to think of it, it sounds like a practical solution for preventing accidents.

    Thanks for sharing:)

    Dear Vazira,

Interesting facts indeed! :o I didn??t know electric cars need to artificially produce a noise. I currently drive an EV and personally I do feel like it??s more dangerous for the pedestrians because it really produce very little noise. When I??m driving through a narrow street, many times the pedestrians do not realize there??s a car on its way.

It??s also great that you feel like the topics are interesting! Very happy to hear that. :D

Best of luck in July too ;)

    Best,
    Debbie

    Hii Vazira,
Yess, the chosen monthly topics are so interesting and new to many of us, ambassadors. WOW, the fact that green cars are different from electric cars surprised me a lot. I hope that everyone starts making wiser choices when buying a vehicle. But, what about hybrid cars, are they partly green, and partly harmful to the environment? Your report was clear and informative and I loved how you present the interesting facts!!
    Good job Vazira
    Keep sharing!
