Day 2: Speakers of Virtual Conference on Small Mammals |

We hope everyone is as excited for tomorrow as we are! I was grateful to see some of our ambassadors and members from eco generation in today's session. We have a second day @24th July. The second day lecturers will be about small mammals as lab, companion, and agricultural animals. Let's get familiar with our resource persons.
Dr. Geraldine Cajuigan-Sanchez , PhD is a Professor in PSAU College of Veterinary Medicine, Director of Extension and Training, Senior Faculty, and Researcher and Head of PSAU Nutraceutical Research Laboratory. Dr. Sanchez has conducted many various projects including those funded by the following agencies: DOST-PCHRD, DA-BAR, CHED, DA-Central Office, CHED-Newton, and PhilRice. She received several awards including Best Paper under Medicine and Surgery for her paper on ¡°Antidiabetic Potential of Red Mold Rice and its Gross Histopathological Description in Selected Organs in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Rats (Rattus norvegicus)¡± and the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award - Group Category for the Open Academy for Philippine Agriculture. She published several Post Doctoral Research on Small Mammals. She will share about ¡®The Ethical Care & Welfare Management of Small Laboratory Mammals. Secondly we have, Dr. Napoleon Manuel T. Almelor III, RN, Resident Exotic Veterinarian at the Vets in Practice Alabang Branch, and Wildlife and Exotic Medicine Lecturer for the Veterinary Medicine Licensure Examination at Recency Review Center. Dr. Napoleon or just Dr. Leo is a licensed nurse and veterinarian. He received his nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest university in Asia, and he received his veterinary medicine degree from the University of the Philippines - Los Banos. He was an intern at the California Wildlife Center and was also a former moderator for the Philippine Lapine Club Inc. We will hear about ¡®The Care and Nutrition of Small Exotic Mammal Companions¡¯ from him.
And lastly, Mr. Kevin D. Tuazon, Farm Manager at Lahar Integrated Farms. Mr. Tuazon is currently working on attaining his veterinary license. He served as the Supreme Grand Knight Venerable Knight Veterinarians Fraternity from 2018 to 2019. As manager at Lahar integrated Farms, Mr. Tuazon has given lectures on rabbit farming and production for different universities and events. He will be talking about ¡®Small Mammals as Alternative Agricultural Food Resources¡¯. I hope to see the registered ones in tomorrow's session. Happy weekend everyone! |

Thanks for sharing how the second days webinars are going!
It seems like you held another successful event for all of us.
I think most of the discussion would regard small mammals and they're usage in
experiments or food resources. I wonder how you guys have reached a consensus.

This is your mentor Debbie. :)
I love the enthusiasm of you and your fellow members of organization. I'm especially curious to know about "the ethical care and welfare management of small laboratory mammals". There is a trend to reduce animal testing in many industries, claiming that the entire testing itself is unethical. Please update on us about a summary of the lectures as well! Can't wait to read it already!! :D
