Guru Purnima: Day to remember them who enlighten us.

by Sandhya Adhikari | 24-07-2021 15:51 recommendations 1

According to the Nepalese calendar its Guru Purnima today. This is the day which is celebrated to pay ode to Gurus, the teachers/ mentors for their contribution for shaping the students life. The Gurus teach us about core value and cycle of life and it is only because of the Gurus that we believe in the existence of immortals and outside the world. Guru is not only a physical form but also a form of energy by which knowledge is transmitted to the individuals. There is an aura that can be only felt in the presence of Guru. Guru is the great philosopher, guider, immortal human and the surrogate parents.

What is Guru Purnima??

Guru Purnima is celebrated on the Purnima Tithi (Full Moon day) in the month of Ashadha (July/August). According to the Hindu mythology, the day is the most important and holiest as this day commemorates the birth of Veda Vyasa, the author of the great  epic, Mahabharata. This great saint edited the four vedas. He also wrote the eighteen Puranas, Mahabharata and the Srimad Bhagavat Gita which enlighten and teaches the lesson of life to all the humans. This holy day also represents the first passing on from Shiva¡¯s yogic science — the Adiyogi or first yogi — to his first disciples, the Saptarishis, the seven wise men. This wisdom is then borne by the Saptarishis across the world and even today any divine cycle on earth is drawn from Adiyogi ¡®s spine of wisdom.
Importance of this Day: On this day, people pay ode to their Gurus (teachers/mentors). The Sanskrit word Guru is derived from  two words that is Gu and Ru - where Gu means ignorance/darkness and Ru refers to elimination/removal. Therefore, the Guru is the one who selflessly dispels darkness-like ignorance by showering the light of knowledge on their students, and leads the aspirants to the path to enlightenment.

    Hi Sandhya,

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

Thanks for sharing a special day for your nation Nepal with us.
Guru Purnima seems to be a similar to teacher's day. We have such a day
in Korea, too, where we give our thanks to teachers who have made us
in school. Always good to know more about other nation's traditional events!

    Thanks for sharing:)

    Dear Sandhya,

This is your mentor Debbie :)
Awwwh! This is such a sweet article. In Korea such a day is on May 15th. It's interesting how in different countries we express gratitude on different days. I'm not sure if I am 'qualified' to hear such a blessing as a mentor but I hope my comments and guidance so far has been useful to you all! :) Thank you all mentees for helping me become a better person as well. Happy Guru Purnima to y'all!

    With Love,
    Debbie

My husband was diagnosed of Parkinsons disease 2 years ago, when he was 59. He had a stooped posture, tremors, right arm does not move and also a pulsating feeling in his body. He was placed on Senemet for 8 months and then Siferol was introduced and replaced the Senemet, during this time span he was also diagnosed with dementia. He started having hallucinations, lost touch with reality. Suspecting it was the medication I took him off the Siferol (with the doctor??s knowledge)  him on PD natural herbal formula we ordered from TREE OF LIFE HEALTH CLINIC, his symptoms totally declined over a 3 weeks use of the TREE OF LIFE HEALTH Parkinson's disease natural herbal formula. He is now  almost 61 and doing very well, the disease is totally reversed!  (w w w. treeoflifeherbalclinic .com)
