I have found the 26th Tunza Eco Generation Ambassador Term more informative. The theme for every monthly report from Green Architecture to upcycling and now Carbon Neutrality, all these themes have really fascinated me. As I am representating Asia Pacific region, regarding carbon neutrality I would like to speak up beyond Nepal.
Carbon Neutrality Carbon Neutrality basically means having a uniform balance in carbon emission from the atmosphere and absorption of the carbon from the same atmosphere in carbon sinks. All the Green House Gases have to be counterbalanced. Why has Carbon Neutrality being a great matter of concern? Carbon emissions is no way good for atmosphere and environment. It results in several catastrophe like climate crisis and global warming. It undoubtedly would lead to the state of emergency. What should be done for Carbon Neutrality? Carbon Neutrality can be achieved mainly by two ways: 1. By reducing the emissions of carbon to zero 2. By absorbing all the emitted carbons Various guidelines and policies are being formulated by various countries towards achieving carbon neutrality. In this process, the great and developed nations of Asia Pacific region like China, Korea and Japan had also promised towards achieving carbon neutrality. In 2018, these three nations were responsible for the emission of one thrid of Al! Global carbon emissions. For the protection of planet, we must appreciate these three nations are responsibly committed to 100% carbon neutrality by 2050(Japan and Korea) and 2060 (China). The commitments made are definitely a reason for celebration, however the pathway isn't that easy and simple. But together we all of us ho hand on hand, Carbon Neutrality can definitely be achieved. These nations are developing long term and concrete plans to meet the targets with clear timelines. Afforestation, transition to 100% renewable sources of energy, following 4Rs principle, and many other activities can be practiced. So, have you watched this year Olympics held in Japan? I have actually mentioned about it, because the medals (Gold, Silver and Bronze); they were manufactured from recycling. You don't think this is a great initiative and a great message to the world. Everyone has eye on this Olympics and on those medals. Taking this opportunity, Japan has not only successfully conducted Olympics but also has provided the world with a Eco friendly message. Similarly, after I have been in Tunza, I have been following Korean government acts also very closely. Whenever I talk to my Korean friends, I never miss to express my appreciation for the Korean government initiative towards eco friendly activities. Tunza Eco Generation is also one of the great platform that I count on. So, yes! Carbon Neutrality is possible but it takes time. But we know, slow and steady always wins the race, isn't it? Hi Asmita,
This is your mentor Yuseon:D
I didn't know it was possible to manufacture medals reusing smartphones.
I thought that medals were made by the pure material itself.
So does it mean that smartphones contain those pure materials? I think it was
quite clever for Japan to give out these green messages for the Olympics, which is a
huge event all over the world.
Thanks for sharing this news with us!

Dear Asmita,
This is your mentor Debbie. :)
I love how you used the phrase "slow and steady". Nowadays a lot of companies are making a department solely exploring into ESG which also includes taking care of the environment. But I hope this effort lasts! Industries should not just put something to *show* people that they'are working towards it.
Green Cheers,
Debbie
