Waste Management: Turning Waste Into Wealth |

Organic waste, or biodegradable waste, are natural type of refuse that comes from plants or animals.
Examples of organic wastes include food waste, paper, plant sillage etc. When these wastes are improperly managed, the pose a significant risk to the environment and public health. Pathogens and harmful chemicals present in wastes can contaminate surface and ground water.Organic wastes also generates large amount of methane as they decompose. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere more than carbon dioxide. Given equal amount of methane and carbon dioxide, methane will absorb 86 times more heat than carbon dioxide. One of the sustainable methods of organic waste management is using them to produce biogas: a renewable source of energy. Biogas is produced after organic wastes are broken down by bacteria in an oxygen-free environment, a process called anaerobic digestion. Creative title! You've listed some wastes that are risk to environment and public health.
If you're interested, it would be great to search more about how each wastes are toxic and how those wastes can be ecofriendly managed.
Thank you for your great article and please keep up with your wonderful work :) Happy new year!
Sincerly,

Hello Hassan, this is your mentor Joon!
Yes, because of the reasons you have listed in your article, it is crucial to manage
wastes properly. If not, it would produce significant amount of gases and pollutants
which would lead to different problems such as pollution and climate changes.
There are some countries using biogas as a mean of electricity production so if you
are interested, it would be nice to research about the topic.
Well read your article, and hope you keep up.
Best,
Joon
