The waste management Industry: saviour or enemy? (Free topic report)

by Malewo Chiwanga | 21-10-2021 01:49 recommendations 0

Are Waste Management Industries the  Saviour or enemy?
My free report topic is actually inspired by the research I was doing for the actual theme given which was Eco-friendly waste management.
During this research I came across industries which have been born our of the need for good waste management and that got me wondering how efficient these industries were in relation to their carbon footprint and contributions to green House gasses
What I discovered on the by and large was that at face value yes: waste management industry is a very productive and efficient industry which is very beneficial for the sustainable development of people
What I also learned, which is probably obvious from the get go, was waste management is way more efficient and safe  in first world countries.
I found out that in places like Ghana they get rid of electronic waste by burning away the plastic and recycling the metals but in the process expose themselves to toxic fumes. Is this a sustainable industry? Definitely not at least for them. They need to find a solution and fast.
Plus most waste management in third  world countries is low scaled compared to major plants in places like Western Europe where they have large plants that can turn waste into energy
So in conclusion waste management industries are most definitely the saviour for a majority of the time and for a majority of the people but that does not mean there are no pitfalls much like everything else in life.

Hello Malewo, this is your mentor Hannah. Sorry for the late comment!

Ooh.. Such an interesting and important perspective to waste management industry.
People are likely to think one-dimensionally that waste managing companies are ecofriendly, but there maybe tradeoffs and even worse effect to the environment as you've mentioned as example.

Thank you for your great article and please keep up with your wonderful work :)

    Sincerly,
    Hannah

Hello Malewo, this is your mentor Joon.

I agree with your words and we need to look for solutions for such problems. It is a fact
that systems made for developed countries don't always work well for others. It might
be due to lack of resources, investments made, infrastructure deficits, and so on. That's
why I personally this developed countries should help others to build a proper system for
    the benefit of entire planet.

Well read your article, and let's keep up.

    Best,

    Joon
