Air Pollution and Covid

by Fernanda Roepcke | 01-12-2021 00:01 recommendations 0

The pollution that exists in our atmosphere affects thousands of people every year around the world, and this can be seen most strongly after covid-19 proliferates. Right at the beginning of the pandemic, researchers noticed a higher rate of cases in regions with more air pollution, after a while a study was carried out with more than 9,000 people in Spain, showing and proving this statement. "Our study provides the strongest evidence globally on the association between ambient air pollution and covid-19," says Kogevinas. "These results are in line with the association between air pollution and hospitalization described by science for other respiratory diseases, such as flu or pneumonia."
This only highlights the importance of policies related to reducing air pollution. "This pandemic and possible future becomes an important new reason to clean our air. It is unwise to ignore the measures needed to contain air pollution when we know we are dealing with a virus attacking our lungs," says Francesca Dominici, researcher at Harvard University.

Hello Fernanda, this is your mentor Joon.

It is sad that Air pollution is affecting millions of people around the world. Though it has been a long problem, not much has been addressed. Despite the discussions going around the table, not much has been implemented in national nor local wise. It is a time for transaction.

    Well read your article.

    Best,

    Joon
