Thematic Report - Carbon Neutrality 2.0 |
---|

In July 2021, out Thematic Report was Carbon Neutrality and it is much more fun now to write about the same topic from a different point of view. The main focus of this report is to try and highlight some investments being made institutions to ensure that perhaps emission of greenhouse gases especially carbon dioxide is accounted for by making investments in another sector that would benefit the environment in getting rid of the greenhouse gases emitted. I know for a fact that Prudential Bank (A company in Ghana) has invested thousands of Ghana Cedis (Thousands of dollars) in planting a lot of trees in Achimota (a town in the capital of the country). This trees contribute to what we now call the Achimota Forest. This is to say that some entities are just willing to put in their quota in the fight to ensure carbon neutrality. Generally, it has been proven through research (Source: United Nation Secretary General – Carbon neutrality By 2050) that the Covid 19 pandemic has played a major role in the reduction of carbon around the world but levels are still very high which means more work ought to be done. Carbon Neutrality by 2050 is a huge tax which can be done provided we are all willing to put our resources together and have a major change in our attitudes when it comes to issues relating to carbon emission and climate change as a whole. We have had numerous influential persons with some being head of states who have claimed not to believe in climate change. This goes a long way to influence thoughts and decisions of people who look up to this influencers. So far, Ghana¡¯s Go Green Initiative of planting 3 million trees is still running smooth and I was very impressed to see a lot of companies and other entities involving themselves in the initiative. I took part in this initiative and have two growing plants in my nursing bed as a result. They will be transferred to a rural area once they grow a little big. I am targeting areas where tree logging is monolithic. Green Cheers From Ghana |

@Mentor_Joon that is a cocoa tree, the finest you can get around the world. My country is one of the leading producers of cocoa so that should not be a surprise. Thanks

Hello Justice, this is your mentor Hannah.
Ohh we mentors didn't realize that last July's theme was also carbon neutrality, 'cause we weren't mentors then.. It's a relief that you enjoyed writing about it after a half of year.
Ghana's Go Green event seems to be appropriate for net zero.
Thank you for your great article and please keep up with your wonderful work :)
Sincerly,
Hannah

Hello Justice, this is your mentor Joon.
Planting trees surely does help to soothe carbon that was emitted through open air as trees consume Carbon Dioxide to produce energy through photosynthesis. As you have mentioned in your article, there are several organizations funding to plant trees around the world so that it could help reduce carbon concentration level. Hope more influencers spread awareness using their influence so that we can become green overall.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Also, is that the tree for avocado or mango that you are holding? Just out of interest.
Best,
Joon.
