Ambassador report January: Carbon Neutrality. |

In an article for the European Union environmental plan they refer to carbon neutrality in the following definition:
Carbon neutrality means having a balance between emitting carbon and absorbing carbon from the atmosphere in carbon sinks. Removing carbon oxide from the atmosphere and then storing it is known as carbon sequestration. In order to achieve net zero emissions, all worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will have to be counterbalanced by carbon sequestration. One of the biggest topics world wide on environmental issues is related to every country needing to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce the greenhouse gasses related to global warming. On the part of Europe they believe they can achieve this by 2050 an ambitious and hopefully accurate number. The term is used in the context of carbon dioxide-releasing processes associated with transportation, energy production, agriculture, and Industry. Nowadays though it is being replaced by something called "net zero" beyond carbon neutrality by including more activities under the scope of indirect emissions, and often including a science-based target on emissions reduction, as opposed to relying solely on offsetting. while in theory it seems good it encourages recklessness in encouraging a "burn energy now and compensate for it later" policy. Carbon Neutrality is a wonderful policy that needs to be more enforced even more than it currently is. |

Hello Malewo, this is your mentor Hannah.
Yes, I see that you're up for the carbon neutrality policy. I am too.
This is one of the biggest topics and goals for the environment in the whole world these days, and probably needs much more development then technologies now.
Thank you for your great article and please keep up with your wonderful work :)
Sincerly,
Hannah

Hello Malewo, this is your mentor Joon.
Though it is best to reach the goal of net zero, we still have much more to go. Reaching carbon neutrality should be a priority and to do so, massive investment on different industries and researches are crucial. It is also deeply related to renewable energy as producing electricity in traditional way inevitably emits carbon.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
