Water Pollution

by Ilona Poplavskaya | 22-03-2022 23:37 recommendations 0

Water pollution is a serious environmental problem.  After all, water is necessary for the survival of all living organisms, including humans.  But its pollution cannot be used for drinking.  And the current methods of water purification are not a panacea, because in most cases they cannot help in any way.
The main cause of water pollution is industrial waste.  They end up in water bodies for a variety of reasons.  Industrial waste is deliberately dumped into rivers and seas (this is the easiest and most harmful way to get rid of it).  And sometimes accidents or water leaks end up in the water.
Also farms.  Fertilizers used in agriculture cause great damage to water bodies.  This is due to the fact that chemical and organic fertilizers that are in the upper layer of the soil are washed out by rainwater (as well as groundwater).  But since they are food suppliers, abandoning agriculture would be suicidal.  So there is nothing you can do about it.  Oil is flowing.  Unfortunately, they are not uncommon.  By some estimates, more than 10,000 oil spills occur each year in the United States alone.  And oil products entering water bodies have many negative effects on living organisms.  Atmospheric pollution.  There are many pollutants in the atmosphere of our planet.  They also have a detrimental effect on water bodies.  Ash, soot, ash and various gases bear the greatest harm.  They appear in the atmosphere mainly due to human activities.  After immersion in water, chemical reactions occur, resulting in the formation of concentrated acids.  Industrial products can also interact with water and the atmosphere, causing acid rain, which can cause great damage to water bodies.  Consequences of water pollution
The world is already experiencing a shortage of fresh water (mainly in the equatorial regions).  Water pollution exacerbates the situation.  All this threatens with a shortage of fresh water for the majority of the population.  As a result, the number of deaths from thirst has increased.
   Conclusion
Water pollution is a serious problem for humanity, but there are many ways to solve it: learn how to better conserve natural resources, create better water purification mechanisms, introduce waste-free technologies in industry, reuse wastewater (for example, in agriculture).  ), etc.
It is quite possible and necessary to deal with this problem.  And given that science does not stand still, we can hope to see the results of this struggle.

   Ways to solve the problem
The problem of pollution of natural waters on the surface of the Earth has grown to the scale of the planet.  Mankind is trying to solve the problem in different ways.
   Water purification
A number of activities will bring polluted water up to the required standards in the purification process.
   * Mechanical - nets are installed in the direction of the current, which prevents large debris from entering open water.  The imperfect method requires regular cleaning of the grids.

   *
   * Third - water goes through a multi-stage cleaning system with the help of powders.  They kill pathogenic microorganisms, lead to the decomposition of acids and alkalis.  The resulting resource can be used for agricultural or industrial purposes.
   * Specialized - allows you to remove contaminants from certain types of compounds.  Coagulants lead to the adherence of foreign particles, which form filtered flakes.
   * Chemical - reagents react with harmful impurities, neutralize them.  But the water is hard, you can not drink it.

   Water resources protection
A number of countries have developed measures to protect the planet's waters.

   * Coastal water protection zones have been established, on the territory of which there are restrictions on economic activity.
   * Measures have been introduced to replenish the planet's water balance with high-quality water resources.
   * There are fines and penalties for violators of the established rules for the use of water resources.
World experience in combating water pollution
Scientists are constantly looking for effective ways to purify water from harmful impurities.  A number of methods have been developed for the rapid localization of large volumes of oil products or other chemical and radioactive compounds entering open water bodies.  But this is not enough to reduce the damage to nature.

Hello Ilona, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

This article introduces various ways and methods how to solve the problem related to water pollution! I totally agree that the main cause of water pollution is industrial waste. Of course, household pollutants have their own bad effects on water quality. However, I would say ¡°Industrial waste is the most threatening reason for water pollution¡±. Nowadays, ESG management is one of the most important global topics. We can contribute to solving the problem by consuming the products of companies that are headed to ESG management.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,

Hello Ilona, this is your mentor Joon.

Water pollution is quite serious, yet there are still solutions that we could make situations better. Mechanical, physical, and chemical ways are such examples. By using such filtering process, we could purify water to fresh water level. Then, why do problems still exist despite there are solutions to the problem? It is all about money and randomness. Industries tend to ignore environmental problems so that they could maximize their profits. Also, there are some oil spills on ocean due to ship sinking underwater and this cannot be prevented. Yet, I hope more could be done to alleviate current problems.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
