What is an axolotl?A Mexican axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is an animal that can regenerate its limbs in a matter of weeks. Axolotls were named after the Aztec god of fire and lightning, Xolotl, who could take the form of a salamander. Xolotls are also related to dogs, and "atl" is the ancient Aztec word for "water," so "axolotl" is sometimes translated as "water dog." [2] Although these animals reproduce rapidly, sadly, amphibians are endangered in the wild. The color of these animals changes a lot. Most of them are black or brown, but they also come in other colors. Now, where do axolotls come from? Axolotl inhabit lakes and canals in the southern part of Mexico City. They weigh from 0.95 to 3.6 kg. Their diet consists of worms, insect larvae, small crustaceans, and fish. Their life expectancy is 10 to 15 years. https://www.facebook.com/bbcnews. Hello Daniel, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
What a cute animal!! When I first read this article and saw the photo of the water dog, I did not realize that it was the photo of Upa Rupa. I thought it was a kind of species that I have seen just once before. I realized it after I read Joon Mentor??s comment! I am very sad that human activities are destroying their habitats. I hope they will reproduce well.
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hello Daniel, this is your mentor Joon.
I am aware of the 'water dog' as I used to live in Mexico. It was listed in school's textbook and I was fascinated by its appearance. However, I never had chances to witness them in person even though it is living near Mexico City. The specie is also quite famous in Korea too known as 'upa rupa' a Japanese term. My relative really wanted to grow one of them, but was not able to as it was set as a protected specie. Hope we could preserve them for several generations.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
