Water is of utmost importance for our survival and all living forms. Water covers two-thirds of the Earth¡¯s surface and our body consists of seventy-six percent of water. Human activities are usually responsible for water pollution the pollution of bodies of water (such as oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, aquifers, and groundwater).
Here are the most common types of water pollution; Surface Water Contamination This type of pollution naturally takes place on the Earth¡¯s surface, such as in oceans, streams, lakes, and rivers. When rainwater runoff carries pollutants into the water, water functions become polluted. And contamination of water can also happen due to pathogens and waterborne diseases.Groundwater Contamination Human-made products such as oil, chemicals, and gasoline are released into the ground by rainwater, and it makes water unsafe and unfit for human use. The use of pesticides and fertilizer on farms is the main cause of groundwater pollution.Chemical Pollution The primary contributors to this are industries and agriculture. Surface and groundwater bodies are affected by chemicals.Water pollutants pose a wide range of problems for both humans and aquatic life. According to a WHO report in 2017,2.1 billion people lack access to safe water. Polluted water mostly affects animals and plants *Contaminated water has disastrous effects on our health, causing typhoid, cholera, hepatitis, and other diseases.*Water pollution can destroy the ecosystem if left uncontrolled. * Toxins and pollutants in the water are absorbed by aquatic creatures (fish, shellfish, etc.), which are then used by people, causing food chain disruption. https://www.toppr.com/guides/biology/natural-resources/water-and-water-pollution/ https://www.fairplanet.org/story/types-and-effects-of-water-pollution/

Hello Sara, this is your mentor Joon.
Water is a crucial source for all mankind. Water pollution could be classified based on different filters we set. Pollution on fresh and marine water could be one, and point and non-point source pollution may be another. We are currently facing serious threat. What can we do? What should we do? We should discuss and look for possible solutions and aim to put it into action.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon

Hello Sara, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
As you have mentioned, water pollution is mainly caused by human activities. These activities have destroyed the habitats of many flora and fauna for a long time. The main culprit responsible for this kind of environmental issue has been always humans, but it is not like all individuals work together. This is the reason why we all gather here and we should make effort to encourage much more people to participate in our movements together!
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon
