Have you ever heard of a purely sustainable city? Today¡¯s article is dedicated the sustainable city based in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Firstly, the facts are given about the city and some lessons we can derive from. The city is built after about a decade of analyses.

Let me introduce the city to you. The Sustainable City by Diamond Developers was recognized as the ¡°happiest community¡± in GCC at the first Gulf Real Estate Awards instituted by the Dubai Land Department for the third year running. Established in 2015, the nature-friendly project is the first zero-energy development in the United Arab Emirates located on Al Qudra Road.

Here are some interesting facts about the layout of the city. Roads in the city are 20 percent cooler than ordinary roads of Dubai. Whenever it rains, which rarely happens in a desert, water from it goes into the city itself. Jogging road are made of recycled tyres, which fulfils the 9th sustainable goas of the United Nations – Sustainable cities and communities. Trees cool the city and absorb sand particles, which is essential for the UAE. Due to these policies, the city offers zero service fee policy for inhabitants.

The city also makes a lot of conveniences for car users as well. There are charging stations for e-cars, which costs lower than the usual charging stations. Inside the city, shared baggies are also available to move around the city.

One essential point I want to make is the city administration literally teach people how to be sustainable, how to reduce carbon footprint, and how valuable the environment, natural habitat is for humanity. How the city manages that? Firstly, on a regular basis, the housing facilities monitors the amount of energy the inhabitants use and give them the check of their footprint with detailed information. This way, the residents would know and try to reduce them according to the suggestions of the city administration. Secondly, around the small sustainable city, there are horse riding path, and inside of greenhouse areas used for planting trees, different birds are there, creating an environment that fosters respect to animals.

In conclusion, the city shows us that it is still possible for us to build a city and even countries like that and inspires us meeting sustainable goals. I have made a special video of mu visit to the city. Here is the link to the video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CcfZEN0pctJ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Hello Mukhammaddiyor, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

I think your country??s policy demonstrates right direction we should take towards environmental conservation. As time goes by, the role of ¡°Sustainability¡± becomes more important. That is why many companies and countries are heading towards ESG(Environmental, Social and Governance). For example, there is a ¡®Neom City Project?? in Saudi Arabia. They are planning to construct a new city where there is no fossil-fuel being used, and only renewable energy. This greenfield city is designed to aim for Net Zero Carbon Emission! If you find and read some articles about this project, it will help you to learn and understand more about what your country has done.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

Hello Mukhammadiyor, this is your mentor Joon.

Very interesting approach made by Dubai. I especially like the part that roads are 20 per cent cooler and roads are made in recycled tyres. Though I do not know the mechanism and principle how they made the road cooler, it could be very helpful on saving up energy as general temperature which should be cooled would go down leading to less use of energy.
I hope different cities and countries take the approach Dubai has made to keep our earth sustainable.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
