Why ride a bike more?First of all, there are the advantages: it is good for your health as it reduces cardiovascular diseases and at the same time contributes to calorie burning and obesity prevention, improves lung capacity, strengthens the immune system, improves attention, helps us sleep better and reduces cortisol levels, etc. Honestly, I think we all know that there are quite a few benefits to cycling. In my experience, I have always had a concern for and identity for taking care of the environment. That's why, for a long time, my mode of transportation for my daily activities has been the bicycle. I go to and from school by bike. I go to my afternoon activities by bike. Without a doubt, riding a bike is a unique experience since you know where you are going and, on the other hand, you take care of the environment. I also use an electric bicycle for comfort and ease. I save money, I take care of the environment, I like it. It's healthy, it's a great option. Undoubtedly, the government has to invest more in this. I feel that there is still a lack of education for cyclists, both for cars and pedestrians who cross without seeing, invade the bicycle lane, etc. However, I know that in the near future, this will change in favor of cyclists, making this the same way to promote cycling. I certainly invite you to use the bicycle as a means of transportation. If sweat or fatigue is an impediment, buy an electric bike, which is certainly an investment in the short term that will be paid back with what you spend on your conventional means of transportation. Hello Daniel, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
I also enjoy riding a bike when going somewhere. There is no need to worry about arriving late at the destination, as we exactly know how long it takes to get there with our bikes. In my country, Korea, there are 4 types of transportation. One??s own car or taxi, bus, subway, bike, and the system of renting a bike is well developed here so that many people can easily ride bikes as a mean of transportation.
Germany is another country where people enjoy riding bikes. One can find bike lanes everywhere in Germany. Germans do not walk on those bike lanes, on the other hand, most koreans including me, do not care about that. I think this culture is one of the factors that encourages people to ride bikes.
Thank you for the article!

Chelwoon

Hello Daniel, this is your mentor Joon.
Riding bike instead of using other means of transportation could be a big help to environment. Less carbon is emitted and there are regions which give incentives to those riding bikes commuting to workplaces. In Korea, renting a bike only costs a dollar per day as it is supported by subsidies. After launching current system, the government have noticed that thousands of tons of greenhouse gas emissions was saved. Hope such eco-friendly movement spread all along the world.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon

Hey Daniel,
It is really great seeing the way you are adressing your concerns and finding out ways to deal with it. A fun fact, the Netherlands holds the record as the nation with the most bicycles per capita. Cyclists also abound in Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. Many governments have started realising its impact and I am sure that many more will join in as well.
Remember, change takes time but it also takes people.
Great article.
Best,
Risav.
