"Nature holds the key to our intellectual, cognitive, and even spiritual satisfaction." Wilson, Edward O. (1929–) To begin with, what is biodiversity? Well, biodiversity, or biological diversity, is the variety of life. It includes various levels of biological organization and encompasses the great diversity of species of plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms living in a given space. This concept was coined in 1985 at the National Forum on Biological Diversity in the United States. As a Mexican, I can say that in spite of loving and caring for my country, which is so diverse and biodiverse, little by little, this is going to end. We have to take more measures to conserve biodiversity in Mexico. In fact, on the part of the government, there is a lack of action to conserve biodiversity in Mexico. It has been demonstrated that they have cut money for programs to conserve biodiversity in Mexico, and now they are building a train that will destroy much of the ecosystem of southern Mexico. I do not know why they will do it. I feel that they do not have that conscience for future generations. On the other hand, all this money that did not go to campaigns to conserve biodiversity in Mexico went to social programs, a populist measure that is reflected not only in Mexico, but in all of Latin America. Just to mention and brag a little, hahaha. Mexico is one of the 17 megadiverse countries, why megadiverse? This is due to its great biodiversity. Within this beautiful country, there are more than 200,000 different species, which is 10% of the total species in the world. For example, in terms of culture, 66 indigenous languages are spoken in Mexico. Mexico has a diverse landscape. It is also a mountainous country, and hand in hand, it is surrounded by the sea. Mexico is also located in the tropical zone where there is the greatest diversity of species and it is also a huge country with 1,972,550 km2. CONABIO (2022). Home \| Mexican Biodiversity. This is your second article about biodiversity! What do you think about the solution to make them give more support and invest more money to cope with this problem? I think one of them can be to show how much a lot of people care about the biodiversity of Mexico. It is sad to hear that the populist measures are reflected in all of Latin America. We know that many things related to environment, such as energy, are quite connected to politics. That is the reason why we should pay more attention to not only the environmental impacts but also many other fields.

Mexico has diverse environment as well as diverse biodiversity. It is always the good news to have higher biodiversity, but it also mean that the people need to take the responsibility on conserving it. No matter how rich the diversity is, once we start to exploit it, it would soon decrease drastically. We should always have it in our mind that we should conserve the nature and pass it to our next generations without much harm and damages done. Hope we could keep up with the cycle of passing down the current state.
