Sustainable energy sources in the US |

In 2018, 65% of the United States' energy came from fossil fuels. This percentage has barely decreased in recent years. To help spread awareness for solutions, this report is about alternative sources that are viable and sustainable in the U.S..
There are many green sources of energy that are available, such as wind, hydro, and solar power. However, not all of these sources are available consistently, and would need supplementing with other sources of energy. Hydropower for example, is a good source of energy in areas such as the Pacific Northwest, but is only not as viable during later parts of the year, as it relies on melting snowpack. This could easily be supplemented with something like wind power, which is basically available anywhere on the coasts, or in the mountains. Wind turbines are typically placed offshore, where they are most effective, but they can also be placed on farmland or in mountains where there are limited structures in the way. Wind power is basically available all the time, so this is a good source of sustainable energy. Another good source of energy would be solar energy, in the form of solar panels. Solar panels can be used commercially in giant plants or privately in small homes. Excess energy can also then be stored in batteries, thus solving the issue of energy at night. However, areas with limited sun would not benefit as much from solar energy. Additionally, there is research going into placing solar panels in space, which then transfer energy to earth. This would allow energy to be collected 24/7 yearlong. However, this technology is still flawed, and needs further research before it is viable. |

Hello Harrison, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
The United states is the most energy consumptive country in the world. Even though huge amounts of crude oil and shale gas is still stored underground, they import fossil fuels to cover their high energy-consumption.
USA has made an effort to cope with this problem. In recent years, the United States has greatly increased the scale of offshore wind power. I hope the United states will take the lead in solving the world??s envrionmental problems.
Thank you for the article!

Chelwoon

Hello Harrison, this is your mentor Joon.
There are different types and options of sustainable energy available for different countries. However, depending on countries conditions - such as temperature, status whether it is landlocked, and so on - effective and efficient energy source might vary. For instance, Korea does not have adequate terrain to generate solar energy in massive scale. On the other hand, US has quite decent conditions. Hope more countries start using sustainable source of energy, based on their conditions, and could help alleviate different environmental problems related to it.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
