Record-breaking floods in Bangladesh have wreaked havoc as an estimated 7.2 million people have been affected and are in desperate need of shelter and emergency relief items in the north-eastern region of the country. From early in the month of June, torrential rain and upstream water have completely submerged around 94 per cent of the town of Sunamganj and 84 per cent of Sylhet districts, in northeastern Bangladesh, bordering the Meghalaya state of India. While Sylhet and Sunamganj have almost been cut off from other parts of the country, multiple districts nearby including Netrokona, Kishoreganj are also experiencing floods.

This is really hard to hear. Floods and storms have a really big impact on the climate and the limited water resources we have! I really hope for things to get better!!

Hello Sudura, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

I am sorry to hear that. Frequent flood is one of the consequences of climate change. A rise of one degree in the seawater can change a lot things. It affects biodiversity and their ecosystems. Furthermore, it causes many types of irresistible natural disasters that destroy wildlife habitats and even threaten human life. We can no longer just stand and watch it. We need to take action to solve these problems before it is too late.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

Hello Sudura, this is your mentor Joon.

Sad new to hear about. I often hear about the news of Bangladesh flooding every year. Bangladesh's government must have improved basic infrastructure to prevent it, but as the global warming is acceleration, the speed of development on infrastructure cannot catch up the increasing amount of rain pour. First, the country seems to have some solution to deal with waterborne diseases, therefore access to clean water, and proper shelter. Hope the situation eases out soon.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
