Social Contribution Activities of Corporations in India |

[AUGUST THEMATIC REPORT] Corporate social responsibility or social contribution activity is a practice through which companies contribute to the society and environment by performing activities that are beneficial to both. A number of companies in India are well known for their CSR activities/initiatives which are beneficial in the environment, health, or education sector. The decision to mandate corporate social responsibility has been a great success in India and has highly contributed to different fields of social and environmental work. The CSR projects taken up by private companies leave a positive impact on the community as well as enhances the company's reputation. Here is a list of a few companies who have taken the CSR initiative up a notch. 1. Reliance Industries Limited is one of the largest companies in India as well as internationally with an impactful position in the corporate world. The company has tremendously contributed to the health sector by setting up Reliance Foundation Hospital (RFH) which is active in prime states in India. It provides free and subsidized treatment to the needy patient and has received a number of certificates and awards for its excellence in providing health services. Reliance Hospital has also contributed to providing relief materials during the pandemic times. It also set up India’s first Covid dedicated hospital. 2. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) provides empowerment for people and sustainability for the environment through various kinds of measures. By implementing digital entrepreneurship it helps the rural youth from socially and economically backward sections of the society. It provides the rural youth with digital/online courses which further provides them with better job opportunities. The initiative was a collaboration between TCS and Non-Government Organizations in rural areas. 3. BVC Foundation is an initiative started by BVC ventures. This initiative is aimed at bringing all the CSR activities under one umbrella. The primary areas of the BVC foundation’s CSR projects revolve around healthcare, education, and the environment. It started an annual tree plantation drive which reached its target of planting 1000 native trees. The other projects started by the BVC foundation are the DOO Initiative which works on donating to orphanages and old age homes and an annual Blood Donation Campaign wherein the employees of BVC company actively participate to tremendously spread health awareness. 4. Havells India is a manufacturing unit for FMCG products. It had taken business ethics to the next level by introducing non-radioactive and energy-efficient products. During the construction of one of the plant projects, it came to observation that the children in Alwar, Rajasthan were engaged in labour work instead of going to school. It was a challenging task for families to get sufficient two meals in a day and twice as difficult for children in that region which was why children were sent to do labour work. Thus, Havells took it upon themselves to provide the children with mid-deal meals in various government schools in the district. References:- 1. Kandhwe, A. (2022, July 15). Thank you for introducing us to Indian companies that actively practice CSR.
‘Sustainability?? and ‘CSR?? are different things, but we can get sustainability from realizing CSR. I hope more Indian companies will lead their businesses considering the community.

Hello Pranav, this is your mentor Joon.
It is the corporate responsibility to dedicate on social activities as they are the ones primarily damaging the environment to make profits. I have heard the case of Reliance Industry of ambani and it is quite familiar news to Korean people.
It was a pleasure for me to mentor you on past 6 months. What I feel, and realize now is that I have not been knowledgeable enough to provide more information related to different subjects. Hope you could keep up with environmental activities as well as your other works. Once again, thank you for following me.
