biodiversity(May)

Biodiversity is a term used to describe the variety of natural ecosystems and the number of species that inhabit these ecosystems. Biodiversity is essential to human health and wellness, the planet sustains us. We are destroying ecosystem services at an alarming rate, threatening us with extinction. Deforestation, harmful fishing practices, pollution and overfishing are major contributors to the loss of biodiversity. We can slow this trend by protecting ecosystems and the species within them.

Biodiversity is essential for human survival as it provides us with food, water, energy and habitat. We use 97% of known bio resources; we also use bio resources we have not yet discovered. Biodiversity supports both human cultures and economic activities; it fuels our technology advancements and gives us rich emotions. It is important to understand that all lifeforms are interconnected; they support each other by regulating climate, controlling soil fertility and carrying nutrients from one place to another. The loss of any species affects entire ecosystems; entire regions can become hostile to humans due to degradation or loss of their natural flora and fauna. In addition, we must acknowledge that humans have a major role in depleting biodiversity; this includes hunting species for food or trophy items or introducing invasive species such as rats in international travel areas.

Biodiversity has economic value as it generates income for governments, businesses, communities and individuals through eco-tourism, eco-sale of land or eco-taxes on goods sold in protected areas. In addition to financial value, biodiversity serves as a proxy for the health of nature and the environment— if there is a lot of biodiversity, nature is healthy enough to sustain us forever

Hello Ankit, this is your mentor Chelwoon.

Many types of pollution are still accelerating the decline in biodiversity. We do never know which species of extinction will lead to the death of our lives. This is the reason why we should pay more attention to biodiversity. The more species live together, the healthier our ecosystem can be.

    Thank you for the article!

    Regards,
    Chelwoon

Hello ankit, this is your mentor Joon.

Biodiversity is crucial as it is the fundamental factor sustaining our current environment system. With the extinction of a single specie, it would create a chain reaction.

It was a pleasure for me to mentor you on past 6 months. What I feel, and realize now is that I have not been knowledgeable enough to provide more information related to different subjects. Hope you could keep up with environmental activities as well as your other works. Once again, thank you for following me.

Well read your article, and let's keep up!

    Best,

    Joon
