[November Thematic Report] Energy Stored System (ESS)

by Seojin Lee | 01-12-2022 15:55 recommendations 0

What is an ESS (energy stored system)? An ESS is a mechanism to use energy whenever it is readily needed, different from intermittent energy sources. Here, an intermittent system refers to sources of energy that are not always available; some examples include solar and wind energy. Fortunately, there are many forms of energy that are non-intermittent. These include chemical, thermal, radiation, etc.

Just as there are various forms of energy, so to does ESS. The main goal for ESS is to convert unusable energy to a form that can be consumed by humans. In order to achieve this goal, there are multiple technologies of conversion: electrochemical ES, chemical ES, thermal ES, mechanical ES, and electrical energy ES. An example of ESS from one of these methods is the storage of energy from batteries.

While ESS may sound unfamiliar to most people, it is certainly the future for our environment. The methods and usage of ESS are more eco-friendly to Earth and are able to readily provide resources for humans.

Hello, this is your mentor Minkyung.

Thank you for explaining the concept of ESS. I think it would have been better if you elaborated a little more on the forms of energy, or the types of ESS.

I'll be looking forward to your next report :)

    Hi, Seojin Lee!
    This is your mentor, Yoon.

Thank you for introducing the concept of the energy storage system and the objective of the system.
ESS should be developed with the renewable energy to provide green energy.

Great job on writing the thematic report.
I am looking forward to reading your following report!
