People use a huge amount of plastic in their daily life. Waste of plastic is either burned or disposed in the landfill site. But both burning and disposing will produce pollution so it is necessary to recycle plastic materials to create a positive impact on the environment. So in this report, I have explained different plastic recycling companies in Nepal. Himalayan life plastic recycling plant This factory is situated in Pokhara, Nepal. This factory collects discarded PET bottles from nearby districts and the capital city of Nepal. They buy the discarded bottle at Rs 35 per kg and sold pellets at RS 115 which is much cheaper than imported raw material. Then PET bottles are recycled to make pellets and sold to other plastic industries. It provides employment opportunities to 65 workers. It is a social enterprise so all the profits are utilized to provide opportunities to street children for their education. 12000 tons of plastic are recycled annually. Adhunik Pet industries Adhunik pet industry is established in 2018 and is located in Kathmandu, Nepal. This industry supplies reprocessed plastic granules to plastic manufacturing factories at cheaper rate than those imported from abroad. The quality of processed granules and imported raw materials are also similar. The company buys plastic waste at Rs 130 Per kg and sold plastic granules at RS 160 kg to various manufacturing companies. They are also planning to develop their website or mobile app to collect waste in the future. Khaalisissi Normally individual collectors roam around the city with no fixed schedule to buy newspapers, used bottles, and other recyclable trash. People can use Khaalisis.com to schedule the feasible time to collect thrash. People can either donate or sell their trash to companies. If they donate the thrash then 10 percent of the money made from selling on thrash to a recycling business will be utilized for the welfare of khaalisisi friends. Their idea saves the time of people and becomes an efficient intermediary between trash collectors and generators. Currently, 8 staff and 94 waste collectors are employed at khaalisisi. |
