WILDLIFE PRESERVATION

by Dafford Owino | 07-03-2023 02:34 recommendations 1

One of the most detrimental effects that humanity is facing at the moment is biodiversity loss and an ever collapsing balance in the food chain. As a matter of fact, biodiversity loss was proclaimed in the global business forum 2020 risk report as one of the five most urgent challenges humanity will encounter in the next 50 years. As such there is need to put more Conservation and protection mechanism to prevent biodiversity loss.
These mechanisms include;
  1. Innovation
Creativity and innovation would come a long way in preventing and mitigating biodiversity loss especially in curbing poaching and illegal logging and deforestation. Therefore more solutions around ecological mapping, surveillance and monitoring tools such as the use of Artificial intelligence and Environmental information system tools should be constantly improved to enhance efficiency and better mitigation measures.

   2. Community Response and Escalation techniques.

In most developing countries, community involvement and participation in environmental conservation and protection practices is very minimal often due to lack of expertise and inadequate funds. By empowering local communities moreso those residing in Arid and Semi - Arid Lands would not only inspire biodiversity conversation but would also improve quality of life by reducing poverty, hunger and climate change in line with sustainable development goals.

   3. Reclamation and remediation Initiatives

Environmental restoration and rehabilitation programmes are very imperative in mitigating biodiversity loss. Mining, farming and other human activities on land are some of the most practices that requires extensive reclamation and rehabilitation upon exhaustion or use. Restoring damaged lands or derelict lands as a result of mining and farming could stimulate growth and development of the lost biodiversity and ecosystems

    Hello Dafford!
    This is your mentor, Yewon.

    Thank you for your hard work on your report! Your report was convenient to read because it was separated by number!
    I totally agree with those three mechanisms you mentioned above. Especially I am very interested in the 'innovation' part, as scientists are trying to develop new methods to protect the environment with technologies! Have you heard about 'carbon capture'? It's a technology little bit far from biodiversity which was the topic of your report, but it is quite notable technology!

    Thank you again for your great report!

    Hello Dafford! This is your mentor James.

    Thank you for your wonderful report! I think it's well written and structured for readers to understand your point with ease.

    Biodiversity loss is definitely a major issue in a global scale in which the human society should cooperate in order to preserve what is left in our surrounding nature. Without diverse species, the natural balance of the ecosystem would be degraded and we might face severe consequences from it by ripple effects.

    All three of your suggestions to prevent further biodiversity loss seems reasonable! Especially, the recovery and regeneration of natural environments and habitats would certainly promote biodiversity within the region.

    Thank you again for your lovely report! I hope to read more of your writings later on!
