[Wildlife Preservation Report] Wildlife Preservation

by Shiv MehrotraVarma | 16-03-2023 08:25 recommendations 0

The current status of global wildlife is a cause for concern. Climate change, habitat destruction, poaching, pollution, and unsustainable resource extraction are some of the many factors that are contributing to the decline of many species around the world. According to the World Wildlife Fund, we have lost 60% of the world's wildlife populations in just over 40 years. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for increased efforts to preserve our planet's biodiversity.

Preserving wildlife and its habitat is essential for the survival of many species, and it is also vital for the health and well-being of human beings. There are many ways to preserve wildlife, such as establishing protected areas, enforcing wildlife laws, and promoting sustainable practices. Protected areas can range from national parks to wildlife corridors that allow animals to move freely between different habitats. Wildlife laws can include regulations on hunting, fishing, and the trade of endangered species. Promoting sustainable practices can include things like reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using renewable energy sources, and promoting responsible tourism.

One area that has a significant impact on wildlife and the environment is energy development. While energy is essential for our modern way of life, its production can cause significant harm to wildlife and its habitat. For example, oil and gas drilling can result in habitat fragmentation, soil erosion, and contamination of water sources. Wind turbines and solar farms can also have an impact on wildlife, such as birds and bats colliding with turbines and disrupting their migration patterns. However, with proper planning and implementation, renewable energy sources can also have positive effects on wildlife and its habitat. For example, solar farms can be designed to provide habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, and wind turbines can be placed in areas that are less likely to impact bird and bat populations.

Urbanization and pollution also have significant impacts on wildlife. As more and more people move into cities, wildlife is forced to adapt to new environments and compete for resources. Habitat loss and fragmentation can also occur as cities expand and natural areas are developed. Pollution from industry, transportation, and agriculture can also harm wildlife, such as contaminating water sources and causing respiratory problems in animals. However, there are many ways that cities can promote biodiversity and coexist with wildlife. For example, green roofs and walls can provide habitat for birds and insects, and urban parks can serve as important refuges for wildlife.

In conclusion, preserving global wildlife and its habitat is essential for the survival of many species and the health and well-being of human beings. There are many ways to promote biodiversity conservation, such as establishing protected areas, enforcing wildlife laws, promoting sustainable practices, and implementing renewable energy sources. Energy development, urbanization, and pollution are significant challenges to wildlife preservation, but with proper planning and implementation, we can find ways to coexist with wildlife and promote biodiversity in both rural and urban areas. Especially considering the recent, World Wildlife Day, let us celebrate the beauty and importance of the world's wildlife and renew our commitment to its conservation.

Hello Shiv! This is your mentor Yewon.

Thank you for your great work! You have explained several topics regarding wildlife, including energy development and urbanization!

As your report includes lots of details and examples, it was very convenient to understand! I especially liked the part you mentioned green roofs and urban parks as means to coexist with wildlife in urban!

Thank you again for your instructive report!!

    Hello Shiv!
    This is your mentor James!

Good work in your report. You have included almost all the factors mentioned in my first email. You have stated the significance of wildlife preservation and the impacts of energy development and urbanization on wildlife.

It's truly concerning that the renewable energy technologies that we are depending on have a negative impact on wildlife. Thus, we should find a solution to the dilemma between developing renewable energy to reduce GHG emission and eliminating the potential threats to wildlife.

Thanks for your inclusive report! Hoping to see your next report as well!!
