(March free report) Why can't we use 100% sustainable energy?

by Nguyen Trang | 28-03-2023 21:03 recommendations 0

Sustainable energy is becoming more and more popular as people become increasingly concerned about the impact of traditional energy sources on the environment. However, while sustainable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power have many benefits, there are still several challenges that must be addressed in order to make them a viable alternative to traditional energy sources.

One of the biggest challenges with sustainable energy is the cost. While the cost of renewable energy has decreased over the years, it is still more expensive than traditional energy sources. This is because renewable energy infrastructure requires a significant investment upfront, and the technology is still relatively new.

Another challenge with sustainable energy is reliability. Unlike traditional energy sources like coal or natural gas, renewable energy sources are dependent on weather and natural conditions. For example, solar panels cannot generate energy at night, and wind turbines cannot generate energy when the wind is not blowing. This means that renewable energy sources are not always available when they are needed, making it difficult to rely on them as the sole source of energy.

Sustainable energy sources also require significant infrastructure changes to be implemented on a large scale. For example, in order to maximize the potential of wind energy, large wind turbines must be installed in specific geographic locations. Similarly, solar panels require a large amount of space and must be installed in areas with high levels of sunlight. These infrastructure changes can be expensive and time-consuming, making it difficult to implement sustainable energy on a large scale.

Finally, sustainable energy sources also face challenges with energy storage. Unlike traditional energy sources, renewable energy cannot be stored in large quantities. This means that energy must be used as it is generated, which can be difficult to manage. Energy storage technologies like batteries are currently being developed, but they are still in the early stages of development and are not yet widely available.

While sustainable energy sources have many benefits, there are still several challenges that must be addressed in order to make them a viable alternative to traditional energy sources. These challenges include cost, reliability, infrastructure, and energy storage. As technology continues to develop and investment in renewable energy increases, it is likely that these challenges will be addressed, making sustainable energy a more viable alternative to traditional energy sources.

Hello Nguyen! This is your mentor James!
First of all, sorry for the late comment!

I think you have written a practical report regarding the applicability of sustainable energy. The sad reality we face right now is that it would be impossible to implement 100% renewable energy for the current energy demand. The reasons are exactly as you've mentioned; high cost for production/infrastructure, unstable source of energy, and insufficient energy storage technology. However, I still believe we may reach zero emission energy production by all means.

Thanks for the meaningful report! Looking forward to reading your next one!

Hello Nguyen! This is your mentor Yewon!

What an interesting report! When we think of ways to protect the environment, 'sustainable energy' is believed to be a very good, popular answer to the problem. However, as you mentioned in your report, there are still several challenges that we should overcome to use sustainable energy commonly.

I think this topic is very important, so I hope many ambassadors should read this report and share various ideas!!

Thank you for your great work! I'm looking forward to your next report, too:D
