March Thematic Report: Wildlife Preservation |

Wildlife preservation seeks protection for nature, such as wild species and their habitats. Currently, the world faces the danger of the lack of wildlife preservation. Major threats to wildlife include habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, and much more. Thus, to address this issue, there have been efforts by both national and international governments to start preserving wildlife. Before knowing the current status of the world¡¯s wildlife, we must know the causes or threats to it. Adding to what is included above, wildlife also comes across the threat of actions such as deforestation. Deforestation is the intentional clearing of forests for other purposes such as materials. As one might expect, deforestation heavily affects the organisms¡¯ habitats as many organisms live in forests. Furthermore, the world currently is under threat of overexploitation. This is when the harvesting of animals and plants becomes too much to recover back to their original state. This is mostly associated with fishing, as many offspring are taken away faster than they can recover. Knowing these types of threats, the current status of the world¡¯s wildlife is pretty clear. It is evident that due to human actions for their own good, the world¡¯s wildlife is not well preserved as it is heavily affected by people¡¯s greed for their own good. However, some efforts show that the world did not give up yet. An example of a species that is currently being preserved around the world is the leatherback sea turtle. These turtles faced many threats such as harvesting their eggs, loss of habitat, and marine pollution. Due to this, this species was under threat of extinction, until it was decided to preserve these animals by reducing the threats it faces. All in all, species around the world are under many threats of extinction, but some of them are being preserved and many more will follow the preservation path. |

Hello Cheha! This is your mentor James!
First of all, so sorry for the late comment!
Among the threats to wildlife preservation, overexploitation is certainly a main problem. Human civilization have been expanding since the very start of recorded history, and interaction with wildlife was inevitable when doing so. However, I hardly think we can call it an "interaction" nowadays; it is just us "using" them. Thus, an effective way for coexistence should be envisioned as soon as possible.
Thanks for the meaningful report! Looking forward to reading your next one!

Hello Cheha! This is your mentor Yewon.
You have written your report about wildlife preservation. As you mentioned above, lots of human activities, for example, habitat destruction and pollution, are serious threats to wildlife. Consequently, some species have been already extinct and many species are facing an endangered problem.
However, like the example of the leatherback sea turtle, we have adequate ability to solve this problem. I hope people can protect other species from being extinct!
Thank you for your hard work! I hope to read your next report, too!
