Smart grids

As an eco-friendly urban technology, I would like to introduce the smart gird. A smart grid is an electricity network that utilizes digital and other sophisticated technologies to monitor and manage the transmission of electricity from different sources.

Smart grids can incorporate energy storage systems such as batteries to store excess electricity during times of low demand and release it during peak periods. This helps balance supply and demand and efficiently make use of the energy. The smart grids help consumers to monitor their electricity consumption and usage. They can receive feedback on their usage patterns and set energy saving preferences. The smart grids have great security and protects cyber threats and unauthorized access. People can rely on the delivery service and do not have to risk unnecessary disruptions. An example of a smart grid is the smart meter that offers detailed information about electricity usage. It helps both companies and customers to establish good consumption habits.

For example, if a smart grid can be used in a neighborhood. Each household would be equipped with a smart meter that communicates wirelessly with the utility company. During summer, when it is boiling hot, and the air conditioner usage is high, the company sends a signal to the smart meter, requesting a temporary reduction in the air conditioner power consumption. The smart meters will then signal the smart thermostats in each of the houses and help adjust the settings to reduce the consumption.

Hello Seoyoon!! This is your mentor James.

First of all, sorry for the late comments!

I see that the main topic for this report is "Smart Grid"! As you've mentioned, smart grid systems enable efficient distribution of energy/power regarding the demand or rate of consumption in variegated areas or time periods. This would allow us to save more energy and also stabilize unit prices of electricity. Smart meters in households would also inform people regarding their consumption in a daily basis, so energy loss or consumption may be reduced by eco-friendly practices as well!

Thanks for writing such a meaningful report! Great work.

Hello Seoyoon! This is your mentor Yewon.

I apologize for the late comment.

You have written a great report about the smart grid, one of the technologies that contribute to efficient energy management.
As you mentioned in your report, lots of technologies are applied to this system so that this system can work as one 'smart' energy manager.
Your report is very interesting, and I could learn a lot about the smart grid from your report!
Thank you for your hard work! Let's keep up the good work!

Most GHGs emission is due to the making and transportation of electricity. We must go for green energy.
