All factors you mentioned above are very important to the urban environment, but I want to emphasize the importance of sustainable transportation.

Regarding your first aspect of urban technology, smart grid systems enable efficient distribution of energy/power regarding the demand or rate of consumption in variegated areas or time periods. This would allow us to save more energy and also stabilize unit prices of electricity. Smart meters in households would also inform people regarding their consumption in a daily basis, so energy loss or consumption may be reduced by eco-friendly practices as well!
