[December thematic report]

Nepal's cities are evolving at a rapid pace, reflecting the pulse of progress. The streets echo with the vibrant sounds of city life—the honks, the chatter, the constant movement. Yet, with this urban sprawl comes a host of challenges. Traffic jams have become a daily struggle, and the air quality, well, let¡¯s just say it's not as fresh as it used to be. Sometimes, you can feel the heat bouncing off the concrete, making parts of the city feel like they¡¯re simmering in their own warmth.

This urban takeover isn¡¯t just affecting us humans; it's causing a ripple effect for our wildlife friends too. Animals are finding it harder to navigate their way in a landscape increasingly dominated by buildings and roads. It¡¯s tough watching them adapt to this rapidly changing scene.

But amidst these growing pains, there¡¯s a glimmer of hope shining through. Some of us are rolling up our sleeves and taking action. We¡¯re planting trees, trying to inject a bit of green back into our urban spaces. Others are pushing for better public transport options and biking paths, dreaming of a city that¡¯s cleaner and more efficient. And then there¡¯s the bunch of us who are out there every day, picking up litter and spreading the word that each small effort makes a difference.

Finding that balance is what we're after. We want cities that grow but also respect nature. It¡¯s a huge task, but if we all work together, maybe we can create cities in Nepal that flourish while keeping our environment in harmony too.
