The world currently faces numerous environmental problems around the world. Specifically, biodiversity and nature loss are accelerating in all regions of the world. The overpopulation around the world and the overconsumption led to land clearance for agriculture which ultimately threatens the natural environment. The diversification of nature has declined significantly, and it is demanding a change. 

According to the UNDP, species are disappearing at a pace 1000 times the natural extinction rate. Moreover, the world is facing the sixth great extinction, with up to 1 million species threatened. In order to maintain humanity’s life, people would need 1.6 Earths. Humans have already destroyed 75 percent of the Earth’s ice-free surface, with wetland areas lost, and marine environments destroyed. Nature’s services might seem endless and unlimited, but people are creating limits to interrupt nature’s pathway. Although the Sustainable Development Goals have been created, endless efforts are required to eventually achieve these goals. 

To reach these goals, people need to improve environmental awareness. One of the major reasons for the species’ extinction is due to the pollution that we create which leads to the destruction of natural lands, and the plastic pollution that interferes with the species’ lives. To stop this, people should primarily reduce waste and try to recycle more products. Campaigns such as recycling and refunding the consumer 10% of the money would totally increase the recycling movement. Moreover, as social media is seizing the world with increased usage, the advertisements or campaigns of these acts can promote environmental awareness. Through these strategies, people can increase awareness, even without the leader’s help. Instead, people can be the leaders themselves with these skills of raising awareness.
