Waste Management

by | 26-01-2014 15:23 recommendations 0

Waste is not waste until it is wasted.  Yes waste is everywhere, without producing waste one cannot lead day today life but we can minimize the amount of waste and make use that waste to produce energy, fertilizers etc. Now a days waste management is essential one to keep our earth clean.  One can replace waste without affecting the environment. Otherwise environmental degradation teaches us a big lesson in the form of new diseases.

In  olden days farmers make fertilizers from waste.  They produce by making compost pit and put all the perishable waste into it.  But nowadays in many places people replace waste in public places or in dustbins.  All the waste accumulate in one place and change the place like garbage mountain.  The air, soil and water in those areas are contaminated due to that waste and the people on those areas are affected by health problems.

Now there are many waste management programs introduced by our government, but many people do not consider about it and dispose their waste in public.  It will contaminate entire society.  So managing waste is everyone's duty to keep the surroundings clean without pollution.  We can separate waste into perishable and non perishable in our house itself and then dispose ourselves without expecting others to do it.

The important  and a easy step for waste management is spreading awareness. First of all we should spread awareness among children because Today's children are tomorrow's nation's pillars. I also wish to share what I heard on a TV Channel, that it is cheaper to make plastics than recycling them, so people preferred plastics made from factories but not recycled ones. The plastics thrown or dumped in a place reduced the health and wealth of the soil. The most important thing was the garbage mountain is taller than 8 meters and grass began to grow on the plastics.

The cows near that place also began to eat plastics as they had no grass. Cow has 4 stomachs. As it started to eat plastics, its milk was not much healthy. The milk contained lots of plastics. Doctors struggled a lot to take plastics from the cow. In many places people saw animals being ill due to plastics.

So, The simple steps we should follow in individual houses are,
  • Separate waste as perishable and non perishable
  • Make small compost pit to utilize perishable waste like vegetable peels etc
  • Dispose non perishable to recycle program
  • Utilize our own manure to home gardens
  • If someone does not get garden, there are many composting pots, we can  make use of those items
  • Factories remove the wastes properly
