Holy Quran Park – 7 Million US $ project set to open in 2015 in Dubai

Quran, literally means recitation, is the primary spiritual text of Islam. It is widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language. Muslims consider the Quran to be the only book that has been protected by God from distortion or corruption.

The Quran mentions 54 plants which include fig, pomegranate, olive, corn, leek, garlic, onion, lentil, barley, wheat, ginger, pumpkin, watermelon, tamarind, cedar, vineyards, bananas, cucumbers, and basil. Out of 54, Fifty One varieties will be found in this park set to open in 2015 in Dubai, UAE, with a budgeted cost of AED 26 Million (US $ 7 Million).

?Holy Quran Park is one of the most prestigious projects of the civic body. Not only the UAE, but the entire tourist world is waiting to visit the park? These were the words of Nasir Hussain Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality. He along with Minister of Environment and Water along with Islamic scholars were present when the 30 olive trees were planted in Holy Quran Park on Monday as part of Plantation Week activities. Plantation Week is a great move towards protecting the environment.

When the park opens it will also give the visitors a chance to understand the Quran?s concept of environment. This is one of the most important and innovative projects undertaken by the civic body to increase green stretch.

The park has been designed in the Islamic perspective to introduce the miracles of the Quran through a variety of surprises for the visitors

Covering about 64 hectares, it will also include an Islamic garden, children?s playgrounds, an Umrah corner, outdoor theatre, fountains, bathrooms, a desert garden, a palm oasis, a lake and running, cycling and walking tracks.

A large glass greenhouse will accommodate 15 types of plants that require controlled climates and a man-made cave will depict some of the stories in the Quran and show examples of the miracles.

Mr Lootah said the municipality was at the forefront of policies to make Dubai one of the greenest cities in the world.
