Public activities to recognize forest management and responsible forest products

In line with Indonesia's economic growth which is rapidly increasing , the market demand for forest products is also increasing and must be filled quickly so that the aspects of responsible forest management is often overlooked , even in some cases by breaking the law . If the consumption of forest resources is not accompanied by patterns of sustainable consumption and production of the natural forest, the forest destruction just wait for a matter of time . 


To disseminate the information of sustainable forest management and responsible forest products ( mainly wood , paper and paper towels ) , WWF - Indonesia held public event themed " 100 % Responsible Consumer " . The activities held on :

Day / Date: Saturday / March 1, 2014 - Sunday / March 2, 2014

Time : 09.30 am - finish

Place : National Museum ( Museum Gajah ) , Jl . Medan Merdeka Barat No. . 12 , Gambir , Central Jakarta

In this event , there were three major activities , namely :

EXHIBITION 25 works of art using wood products , paper , tissue certified made ​​by 6 senior high school students  and college students in Jakarta , as well as young artists . The entire work curated by Ika Vantiani and Sigit Budi ( SERRUM ) .

WORKSHOP KRIYA using wood materials , paper and tissue that are responsible . There are four workshops to be held in example making a woodcut , book binding , painting on wood , and make a poster collage . Workshop participants can be followed by the age of 7 years and above . Workshop registration can be done at the National Museum on 1-2 March 2014 , starting at 09.00 am .

Talk show with topics ranging from about responsible forestry management with DG PHKA , Director of Social Forestry Ministry of Forestry , WWF - Indonesia, representatives of the company ( such as Kimberly Clark and Jaya Raya Timber ) , Association of Indonesian Furniture Designers , and young artists.

This event was so incredible! I could see how young creative used their hobby to showed the responsible forest management! I wish you could join us :)

    Thanks for highlighting the need for sustainable forest management. Sustainable forestry starts with the landowner and moves through everyone who enjoys the outputs of forests, such as clean water, and everyone who buys forest products, such as paper. Thus, everyone is affected by the way our forests are managed.So everyone should care about and work for sustainable forestry.
