One sad story from my hometown again ... :(
Poaching is still rife in Lampung province. Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park Forest area (BBSNP) is one of the home range of the hunters. Patrol team of WWF-Indonesia Lampung program with a team from Hall of Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBTNBBS) Lampung seized some evidence of poaching Resort Lombok region BBSNP forest. The evidence consists of 19 alternating snare, 8 horns of animals, 4 animal skull, 4 nylon meshes, 5 kg steel cross, 6 seling wire, and 1 mesh size of 3 x 6 m.
Patrol conducted from January 31 to February 3, 2014 at the Resort Lombok BBSNP. This routine patrol activities carried out by two officers from the team of WWF-Indonesia Lampung BBS Program plus 2 forest police officers of Community Partners (MMP) for 4 days in the forest areas BBSNP.
The team was patrolling in the forest during the day, which managed to find the pieces of alternating snare. After resting, the patrol team was trying to probe by asking the people in the Gutters 10 where there are many cottage encroachers. Based on information from residents, there are two actors who allegedly put the noose. However, it still needs further investigation to prove the allegations against the two men.
"Try to get to Talang area 10," suggested one of the residents. The investigation continued into the lodge one who allegedly put a noose. Meshes weighing 5 kg was found in his home. However, the patrolling team did not meet with the offender. The team only met his wife. From his home, the team seized as many as six horns and snares alternate.
BBSNP forest area is very spacious. The minimal number of the forest police officers led the practice of poaching still occur in the region. Therefore, a concerted effort is needed to resolve this issue. "One of the alternatives to reduce them is by doing routine patrol, in cooperation with relevant partners," said Charles Antonio, chairman of the patrol team of WWF-Indonesia Lampung BBS program.
"In addition, there should be awareness to the community, especially those who located in the outskirts of BBSNP region. When one disturbed ecosystem will affect other ecosystems, " added Charles Antonio. We hope, routine patrols and awareness to communities around the forest BBSNP could be a solution to the high wildlife crime there. Or all the member from eco generation could give any ideas to help us solving this problem? we would very glad ...

If animals start poaching humans how we'll feel?

I agree with Christy, spread awareness. Also, make the penalties tougher for the violators. Camera Traps may be used.

Poaching is a very complicated problem. Because most of poachers are suffered from extreme poverty. One of the solutions might be featuring this problem a lot through various channels like TV, SNS and newspapers. The more people get aware of the problem, the more possibility for its solution will come up.
