Simran Vedvyas -DELEGATE AND SPEAKER Round Square Regional Junior Conference Dubai   21st -25th March 2012

I participated and attended the Round Square Regional Junior Conference Dubai from 21^st -25^th March 2012 as delegate and I was assigned to conduct a 20 minutes interactive workshop during the conference themed BE THE CHANGE, which was greatly appreciated.  My presentation covered the key facts about how effectively Change is possible?  It included my own real life experience and how I play key role in bringing about change and influencing many other youth with my thoughts especially my efforts for saving the environment and sustainable development which will allow and ensure that we have a living planet for future generations and also highlighted that –big change takes time and needs an ideological breakthrough, begins with choice and results from true learning.  My fellow colleagues were greatly interested and engaged in the presentation and I could hear –big NO? from all around the auditorium as I paused to say -So I conclude ?

This International Conference was hosted by my school The Millennium School Dubai and brought together around 200 bright minds from the region.  Boarding, lodging, travel, meals, excursion and shopping for full five days was organized at the school.  Students and International teams from various countries like Armenia, Jordan, Bangladesh and India came in as delegates and participated with full enthusiasm. The conference gave us all an opportunity to make friends who will last for long as we all share the same passion and concern.  The teachers in my school worked tirelessly and with committed assurance that each one of us had a Great learning Experience and before saying -Good-bye, we all had our eyes filled with tears.

The conference aimed to act as a wakeup call to take charge, lead and make a difference because each one of us has the power within us to create the life we want to live.

THEME: BE THE CHANGE

Bad roads, Polluted Cities, Global Warming, Poverty, Crime??.The list is never ending.  Mahatma Gandhi- famous quote Be the change you want to see in the world is the need of the hour.

Very often we blame others for the bad state of affairs we are in. This powerful statement BE THE CHANGE comes as a wakeup call to take charge, lead and make a difference.  Each one of us has the power within us to create the life we want to live.  One of the definitions of change states that change is to cause to be different; to transform.  Change is the only thing that is constant in life. We must learn to accept change and make a positive difference to the lives of others and the world.

WE ENJOYED EACH AND EVERY MOMENT OF THESE 5 DAYS-

The ice-breaker session organized after the arrival in the evening got everyone onto the floor and actively involved in group games, music and dance. The conference photographs on the following day at the event were followed by the opening ceremony attended by Mr. Sanjay Verma, Consul General of India- UAE.  Key note speakers included Oksana Tashakova, from the Academia of Human Potential, senior management of GEMS and Mr. Yazad Darasha- from Zawya with interesting Baraza sessions, Clean Up drive, visits to Dubai mall, Atlantis, Burj Khalifa, Desert Safari and shopping areas too.  The closing ceremony included a street play on child labour, a traditional dance, performances in group and individual singing, and displays of art.

Life is a succession of lessons, which must be lived to be understood
