List all the countries you know. In every country, there are at least two or three cities that are large metropolitan areas that are condensations of population. Tall skyscrapers tower over hundreds of people, while the roads are covered by rows and rows of cars.
In such areas with high population densities, most buildings are crammed up or built tall in height to support huge populations. Yet as more and more houses are being built, residents are being deprived of all the green around them. For one thing, the packed city environment effects the human body, emitting harmful gases.
In addition, these areas suffer from a lack of vegetation, including grass, trees, and others.
To solve these problems, people have decided to concentrate more on living green. That's what eco-friendly dwelling is all about.
<Eco-friendly Dwelling>
*Eco-friendly dwelling: Eco-friendly dwelling is a term that refers to an eco-friendly lifestyle people take in the process of planning, building, maintaining, and disusing a house. A house or building that satisfies that qualities of an eco-friendly dwelling saves energy/resources and aims for the health of the residents of the area. Such methods are beneficial for both the people and the environment they live in.
*There are 4 main qualifications of an eco-friendly house
1) Saving energy and resources
-An eco-friendly house lessens the amount of resources used to maintain the house or uses renewable energy to power its facilities.
-Active house vs. Passive house
: An active house actively collects energy from various sources. The whole house is powered by solar energy, wind power, and many other renewable (natural) energy sources.
: A passive house concentrates more on keeping energy safe inside. The house is covered by thick walls and inner materials, pair glass, and other mechanisms to keep heat from seeking out.
2) Using eco-friendly raw materials
-Eco-friendly raw materials are needed to build the house in the first place. Such materials are either from nature or are able to be reused/recycled.
-For example, many people use eco-friendly wallpapers or floors made out of wood.
-When a house is disused, the raw materials can be handled easily – they can simply be put back to where they belong.
3) Constructing eco-friendly indoor zones
-Zones, or areas that consider the environment help us to live green.
4) Building a fresh green belt
-Biotopes, gardens, ponds, and small swamps are capable of creating a healthy greenery.
-Flowers, fish, frogs, turtles, insects, and other animals can interact within bio-friendly environments.
These are the qualifications of an eco-friendly house. Now, let's have a look around and paint our own homes green!
