Urban Farming- Planting Veggies at Home

by Jeonghyun Lee | 11-05-2014 11:11 recommendations 0

For the last couple of weeks, I?ve been writing articles about the progress of plant growth in a local farm in my city. Today, I?m going to write about something even more surprising. I?ve brought the plants even closer to myself- from a local farm to my home! I?ve taken a few pictures to show how it works.

First of all, my mom bought some baby veggies from the agriculture market nearby. She did not buy them as seeds, but small sprouts, as it is difficult to plant seeds at home since they require extra care. Anyways, she brought them home and just transported them into a bigger pot for them to grow.

It was much easier than planting seeds since we did not have to make holes or water them. As you can see, one of the most important things in planting veggies in your own house is to buy young plants instead of seeds. The possibility of young plants growing up into mature plants is much higher than that of seeds. Furthermore, young plants require far less care and effort than seeds because they are much stronger.

The plants have grown rapidly (literally) in the spring weather and I could see their growth day by day. I took some photos to share with you. The plants in the pictures are chicory, lettuce, and chives. Indoor farming is a hot trend nowadays in Korea thanks to increased interests in health as well as your environment. Why don?t you try planting some veggies at home?

Thank you for the lovely article, I am also a big fan of home garden activity. My family is enjoying organic vegies from peper to some herbs from our small garden. It's wonderful way to get safe foods :)
