A "Stalk Holder Meeting" on Solid Waste Management of Chitwan, Nepal

Clean Up Nepal- Chitwan organized a "Stalk holder Meeting" on the date June 18, 2014, in District Animal Health Care office ,Bharatpur,Nepal. The meeting was setup with the objective of collaborating the local youths and children clubs, womens'  groups , institutions , organizations and interested individuals in the issue of solid waste management in Chitwan district.

The meeting started at sharp 8:30 am and lasted for 3 hours. This was facilitated by Nepal's Coordinator , Nabin Maharjan, , event coordinator,  Amod Karmacharya , Program officer , Prasuj Mainaili and Clean Up Nepal-Chitwan team ( Me , Bindu Bhandari and Asish Niraula). All together there were 25 participants representing Bharatpur Munacipility, Raise Hands Nepal, Rotract  Club of Narayangarh, Diyalo Pariwar of Narayangarh, Nepal Friendship Society (Bharatpur), Youth Eco Network, Animal Rights Club, Jagriti Child and Youth Concern- Nawalparasi and many environment passionate individuals from different sectors.

Meeting was inaugurated with the introduction of participants and their related organizations or groups. After that, Nabin Maharjan introduced about the Clean Up Nepal and did video presentation. The soaring issue of solid waste management was broached up in the meeting. We discussed on  the major problems on solid waste management finding their relevant  solution. Also, discussion were made  on the effective way of implementation of ideas on marginalized people by the collaboration of different organizations ,involved with the common vision of cleaner ,greener and healthier environment. Various methods and methodologies involving the  technologies like vermi-composting, ecofriendly home,  composting, 3R(Reduce, Reuse and Recycle),green living, etc were put in the discussions.


Finally meeting wrapped with the formation of 13 members committee to deal with the solid waste management in Chitwan followed by the commitment of every participants and organizers to work efficiently to meet the goal : Cleaner, Greener and Healthier Environment for all.
