The sixth SPE Middle East Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference and Exhibition -MEHSSE, is one of the leading events organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers -SPE; which covered key sensitive topics like air emissions, health and workplace hazards, corporate social responsibility, drilling safety and oil spills. Panel discussions included- Environment Panel Session 1: Best Practices to Achieve Sustainability: Where Are We Today? And Environment Panel Session 2: Environmental Impact: Perception versus Reality

I participated in the first ever ADNOC/SPE Fun Run that took place on Tuesday, 3 April 2012 in conjunction with the SPE Middle East Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Conference and Exhibition, 2–4 April 2012 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Fun Run was a community initiative and professional industry event highlighting the importance of a healthy and safe lifestyle. The objective of the Fun Run was to offer a unique platform that brings together experts and key executives from the oil and gas industry to meet with their peers, professionals and students in the Middle East to support a noble cause. The fun run was a 2 km run and attracted over 1,000 participants to engage in a social activity whilst walking, jogging and running to promote good health and show support for the vital importance of health, safety and environment and also raised funds for use to support noble cause and organizations that need support.

This event raised awareness and fulfilled its aim to provide essential knowledge to assist achieving strategic goals within the oil and gas industry with a holistic approach without compromising Health, Safety, Security and Environment-HSSE.
