G.V.V.S Murthy-The Warrior to ban Polythene Bags in Bhimavaram. Bhimavaram is a very big town in Westgodavari district of Andhra Pradesh in India. Bhimavaram has got a unique significance in terms of its Economical background as well as equipped with all the facilities. It is also one of the most populated towns in Andhra Pradesh. While development takes place in such towns pollution also increases day by day .It?s a crucial task for head of town in controlling this pollution. The Municipal commissioner of Bhimavaram has introduced several innovative steps in controlling this .He has given a lot of importance on controlling the waste from homes into two categories they are 1. Wet Waste 2. Dry waste The Municipality process these waste separately. The Commissioner also introduced innumerous methodologies to ban polythene bags in bhimavaram town. Awareness paintings in Banning polythene bags and disadvantages were permanently painted at different public places in bhimavaram through this a no of traditional artisans got some work. House to House campaign on disadvantages of polythene has taken place at different places through municipal employees. The commissioner urged strict rules to ban polythene bags in the town; he collected large amounts of fine inorder to restrict plastic bags usage. While Bhimavaram is town for Temples? commissioner ordered the Executive officers and other members of the temples to practice eco friendly initiatives. He himself drives along the streets of bhimavaram early in the morning throughout the town to check the sanitation status and to observe any polythene bags are laid on the roads. He also encouraged grassroots who are making alternative bags like Jute and Cloth. The commissioner G.V.V.S Murthy showcasing the bag which he uses daily. This bag also marks the significance of International year of forests-2011. This Bag is made from jute and 100% Eco friendly from a grassroots unit Eco Vision in West Godavari District. He organized several Exhibitions with alternatives of plastics like Cloth, Jute & Paper bags. Unveiling an Exhibition with alternatives of plastics like Cloth, Jute & Paper bags. Mrs.Parimi Uma Maheswari the Sanitary Inspector also works sincerely towards a safe sanitation in town under the leadership of Municipal commissioner. In this way The Commissioner of Bhimavaram municipality leading bhimavaram town towards Eco friendly Bhimavaram. . Awareness paintings in Banning polythene bags and disadvantages were permanently painted at different public places in Bhimavaram Let?s hope his activities may takes flight and prosper him with eco initiatives and a plastic free town Commissioner Murthy also tries to reduce carbon emissions he practices what he preaches .Commissioner comes to office on riding a bicycle on every Monday .All other employees of the municipality practices the same.The employees who fails to come on bicycle will be sent back.
