Green Hotels in South Africa |
---|
South Africa is the ideal tourist destination for nature lovers. We have beautiful mountains, national parks and nature reserves that keeps a nature lover amazed.
In order to keep the earth as beautiful as we see it now, we must make every effort to support those who offer environmentally friendly products and services in order to protect our environment. So the next time you pack up to a tourist destination in South Africa, look out for hospitality institutions that are environmentally friendly. Without mentioning specific institutions, here are a few ways to identify if your institution is environmentally friendly or not. 1. Recycling: - Are refuse separated into paper, glass, plastic and organic bins? -Does the institution recycle it's refuse? 2. Water Usage: - Is the hotel/Institution part of the "Think Planet' campaign? - Are there reminders in the hotel rooms to remind guests to use water wisely? -Does the Hotel/Institution recycle water through reverse osmosis? 3. Environmental Protection: - Does the hotel/Institution's activities degrade their environment? Are the homes of birds/plants/wildlife affected by it's activities - Are paper products used economically? -Are carbon emissions minimised? 4. Power Conservation: -Does the hotel/Institution make effort to conserve electricity? -Does the Hotel/Institution use solar power? Most of these environmentally friendly activities are practiced in some hotels/institutions in South Africa and must be emulated by others. Before you make a booking, it is advisable to ask these questions to encourage hotels to be more environmentally friendly.
